Born in Croatia and now based in Slovenia, I have been a TOUR LEADER of coach size groups of major Tour Operators for 25 years. Last few years I enjoyed guiding several small groups and individuals whose approach to traveling was completely different. Instead of rushing from one highlight spot to another, we traveled at leisurely pace. Although we stayed in best of hotels, we always had dinner in local restaurants where we enjoyed real food and talked to local people. We traveled sometimes out of the beaten track and visited places and met people not many tourists usually do. Instead of listening to local guides` mumbo jumbo our visits were enhanced by directors of museums, historians, philosophers, local politicians, students, journalists, etc.. My previous lectures and our relaxing discussions enabled us to enjoy every event to the fullest. Prominent local people often joined us for dinner and lively debate!
